London (3^rd February 2011) Square Enix Ltd., thepublisher of SQUARE ENIX interactive entertainment products inEurope and other PAL territories, today announces CRYSTALDEFENDERS, which has received global acclaim on severalplatforms, is available now for Android.

Featuring jobs and locations from the popular FINAL FANTASYTACTICS series, this tower defence game requires players todeploy units strategically to fend off encroaching enemy hordes andprevent them from stealing their parties crystals. The firstgame in the series, Crystal Guardians, was released in Japanfor mobile phones in January 2008. In December of the same year,iPhone 3G, iPod touch and iPod versions werereleased under the new name, CRYSTAL DEFENDERS. It proved sopopular that versions have also been released on the iPad,WiiWare service, Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360video game and entertainment system from Microsoft andPlayStationNetwork.

Crystal Defenders R1 is not a direct port of Crystal Guardians W1 (the original mobile phone release), though, since the dragoon class was introduced Crystal Guardians W2. One thing is clear about Crystal Defenders on WiiWare it will have less content than the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network releases. Each map in Crystal Defenders has 30 waves of enemies that threaten to steal your crystals. Fend off all 30 waves in any map and the trophy will be yours. If you find it difficult to even complete a single map, check the videos in W1 Defender, W2 Defender and W3 Defender as they offer 'perfect' playthroughs for each map.

CRYSTAL DEFENDERS is simple and easy to learn monsterswill enter an area and march through it until they are defeated orreach an exit and steal one or more crystals. It is up to theplayer to decide by pausing the action at crucial moments when and where to deploy various jobs such as Black Magesor Soldiers to defend the parties crystals. Factors such asmap terrain, monster strengths and weaknesses, job attributes andmore play a crucial role in determining what steps a player shouldtake.

CRYSTAL DEFENDERS for Android has two versions: W1, anintroduction of the game, and W2, in which players can utilise thePower Crystal feature to play more strategically.
